‘‘Trophy Shop’ brings together the diversities and convergences of the four artists cohabiting the Trophy Shop Studios in Preston, Melbourne. Unifying these manifold practices is a focus on the significance of the studio and a cognizant engagement with physical medium. Contrasted by their individual approach to those materials selected and encountered, the exhibition will explore varying conceptions of agency and proximity in relation to materials. These ideas have been nurtured by each artists association with the studio as a space for intuitive exploration. Intuitive practice, for the artists of the Trophy Shop studios, can be described as an entanglement with the proximate; a process in which we situate ourselves in relation to what surrounds us without directly cognizing it.
